MOVEMENT & ART MEDICINE RETREAT

20–24 February 2027 | Khajuraho, India

Move. Feel. Create. Witness. Remember.

A five-day immersive retreat exploring the relationship between body, psyche, creativity and consciousness — through movement, expressive arts, ritual theatre, breath, contemplative inquiry and time in nature.

Set in the cultural landscape of Khajuraho, and timed alongside the renowned Khajuraho Dance Festival, this retreat brings together embodied practices and Indian artistic traditions to create a space for deeper self-exploration.

THE BODY

Movement Medicine • Yoga • Breathwork

Every day begins with Movement Medicine — a free-form movement practice drawing from 5Rhythms®, Dance Meditation, Somatics and Conscious Movement.

There is no choreography to learn and no right way to move. Instead, we explore the body’s own intelligence — allowing movement to become a way of listening, releasing, feeling and discovering what exists beneath the thinking mind.

Alongside movement, morning yoga and guided breathwork support grounding, regulation and integration throughout the retreat.

THE UNCONSCIOUS

Ritual Theatre • Shadow Work • Masks

Ritual Theatre creates a space where the different parts of ourselves can step out of the unconscious and become visible.

The perfectionist.
The people pleaser.
The inner critic.
The achiever.
The rebel.
The wounded child.
The part that hides.
The part that wants to be seen.

Through improvisation, dialogue, character work and embodied exploration, we enter these different aspects of ourselves — not to perform for an audience, but to witness, understand and integrate them.

As part of this process, participants will create their own ritual masks. The mask becomes a symbolic doorway into a particular aspect of the self, and is later brought into the Ritual Theatre process to explore that part more deeply.

THE CREATIVE SELF

Art Therapy • Expressive Arts

Not everyone speaks through words. Sometimes the body paints. Sometimes the hands carve. Sometimes something emerges through colour, texture, movement or image before we understand it intellectually.

Through Art Therapy and Expressive Arts practices, we use creativity as a language for self-exploration.

These sessions are not about artistic skill or producing something beautiful. They are invitations to access emotions, memories, symbols and inner experiences that may be difficult to articulate through conversation alone.

THE HANDS

Feather Wand Making • Sacred Craft

We will create our own shamanic-inspired feather wands, working with natural materials, feathers, wood, leather, stones and other symbolic elements. The process itself becomes meditative — choosing, touching, assembling and creating with intention.

Rather than buying a spiritual object, you create something with your own hands and imbue it with personal meaning. Your wand becomes a tangible reminder of the work undertaken during the retreat.

THE INNER DIALOGUE

Samvad Satsang

Samvad means dialogue or conversation. Samvad Satsang is our shared space for philosophical inquiry, spiritual dialogue and self-reflection.

Participants and facilitators come together to explore questions such as:

Who am I beneath the identities I have created?

What is freedom?

What do we actually mean by healing?

Where does the ego begin — and where does awareness begin?

What does it mean to live consciously?

Rather than teaching a fixed spiritual philosophy, these gatherings are an invitation to question, listen, contemplate and see more clearly.

A kind of group self-inquiry — a philosophical meditation through conversation.

THE LAND

Khajuraho • Sacred Architecture • Dance

Beyond the retreat space, we will explore the extraordinary Khajuraho temples, their symbolism, sacred architecture and artistic legacy. Evenings will take us to the Khajuraho Dance Festival, where classical Indian dance becomes another expression of movement, mythology, devotion and storytelling.

The retreat therefore moves between inner exploration and cultural immersion — between the body, art, ritual and the landscape around us.

INTEGRATION

Nature • Bonfires • Reflection • Rest

There will also be space to simply be.

Time in nature.
Quiet mornings.
Shared meals.
Bonfire evenings.
Reflection circles.
Music.
Conversation.
Silence.

The work does not end when a session ends. Integration happens in the spaces between — when we walk, rest, create, laugh, listen and allow the experience to settle into the body.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This retreat is for people who are genuinely curious about self-exploration, embodiment, creativity and consciousness. You don’t need to be a dancer, artist, spiritual practitioner or experienced meditator. You only need a willingness to look inward, participate honestly and remain curious about yourself.

This is not a retreat designed to give you another spiritual identity to wear. It is an invitation to question the identities you already carry.

Move. Feel. Create. Witness. Remember.
